Experience Three Unique Festival in Tohoku

Morioka Sansa Odori Festival

A large Tako Drum festival featuring over 10,000 drummers and dancers in a parade through the city. It is also listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest taiko drum festival in the world.

Akita Kanko Festival

Akita Kanto Festival brings together wishes for bountiful harvest and the neburi nagashi rite, passed on from the days of yore, for purification and protection from evil spirits The festival’s highlight is the scene of performers lifting a 50kg kanto pole decorated with numerous lantern and placing it on their forehead, a palm, a shoulder and the lower back while balancing it.

Nabuta Festival

More than twenty large nebutas – large lantern floats decorated with human figures – are wheeled along the parade route in the city of Aomori. Ahead of each float, Nebuta dancers called haneto dance widly to the hayashi music of the Nebuta Festival, making the summer right festival lively and exciting. The fantastic view of lantern floats and dancers shouts of “rasse rasse” are overwhelming.

    Kokeshi Dolls are Japansese dolls, originally from northern Japan. Enjoy the painting experience there.

Ajigasawa – Hirosaki – Morioka – Hanamaki

  • Visit Hirosaki Castle (弘前城)
    Hirosaki Castle was built in 1611 by Tsugaru Clan, A three-storey castle tower, fortified moats, castle gates and some corner turrets (yagura) survived or were reconstructed. The castle is located in Hirosaki Park, a spacious public park of about 0.6 sq km.
  • Visit Tsugaru Han Neputa Mura (ねぷた村)
    This is amuseum about Hirosaki’s famous festiva, the Neputa Matsuri, and also introduces the city’s other cultural specialities.
  • Proceed to Antler to enjoy Kiritanpo (Rice Sticks)
  • Toasting Experience & Shop around
    Kritanpo is a Japanese dish particularly in Akita Prefecture. Freshly cooked rice is pounded until somewhat mashed, then formed into cylinders around Japanese cedar skewers, and toasted over an open hearth.

Shizukuishi – Tazawako – Morioka – Hachimantai – Appi 雫石 – 田沢湖 – 盛岡 – 八幡平 – 安比

    Koiwai Farm is the largest private farm in Japan You can visit stables in the farm which are designed as National Tangible Cultural Properties and the farm’s factory where you can watch the production process of dairy products.
  • Lake Tazawa (田沢湖)
    Lake Tazawa is a caldera lake in the city of Semboku, Akita Prefecture. It is the deepest lake in Japa at 423m.
  • Morioka Tezuriku-mura (盛岡手作り村)
    A village that lives and breathes traditional goods of Japan.
  • Morioka Hachimangu Shrine (盛岡八幡宮)
    Hachimangu Shrines are dedicated to Hachiman, the kami of war, wich was particularly popular among the leading military clans of the past.

Appi – Morioka – Tokyo 安比 – 盛岡 – 東京

  • Take Bullet Train from Morioka to Tokyo (Lunch on board)
  • Transfer to Local Train from Tokyo to Shinjuku Station (hotel is in Shinjukuarea)

Day7 7AugB

Tokyo –Singapore 東京 – 新加坡
  • Depart for Singapore


1. GPS-equipped audio guides are available in Chinese and Spanish. Please make a request when booking if you would like an audio guide. There are a limited number of audio guides available, so it may not be possible to provide one for each participant.2. Hakone Komaga-take Ropeway may be omitted from the itinerary due to heavy traffic. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded in such cases. In addition, the return time may be later than scheduled. (Estimated arrival time to Tokyo Station: 20:00-22:00)

3. If Fuji Visitor Center is closed or the tour is behind schedule due to traffic delays, Fuji Visitor Center may be omitted from the itinerary.

4. If the Fuji Subaru Line to Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station is closed due to icy roads, the tour will be taken as high as possible.

5. Mt. Fuji’s 5th station is typically 10 to 15 degrees Celsius colder than Tokyo. On tours from autumn to spring, please bring a coat and other warm clothing.

6. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded even if Mt. Fuji is not fully visible due to weather conditions.

7. Lake Ashi Cruise or Hakone Komaga-take Ropeway may be omitted, due to traffic, weather conditions, or other operational concerns. If either or both are omitted the following alternatives may be used: Hakone-en Aquarium, Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani valley, Hakone Sightseeing Cruise (pirate ship), Narukawa Art Museum, Hakone Sekisho (checking station) remains, Lake Kawaguchi Cruise, Lake Kawaguchi Ropeway, or Itchiku Kubota Art Museum. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded for such itinerary alteration.

8. The guide may not accompany you on the bus or Shinkansen back to Tokyo. In this case, information on how to return to hotels will be provided in advance.

9. After sightseeing is finished, the bus may make multiple stops at hotels in the Hakone area.

10. If the minimum number of participants is not met by 4 days before the scheduled date, the tour on that date may be cancelled.
11. The arrival time in Tokyo Station may vary depending on the season and the day of the week.
Tours in 2014 from Dec. to Mar. depart Odawara Station between 17:00 and 18:30. Tours from Apr. to Nov. depart between 18:00 and 19:30.
